“Thank you for your support through the Hannaford Helps – Bags 4 My Cause Program. What an easy way for organizations like ours to receive a financial boost, while you customers protect the environment! We found the tool kit super easy to use, the weekly updates served as a great reminder for us to post regularly on our social media and web pages, and the campaign was well received by the community.  The money raised will be placed in our Facility Improvement Fund, to be used towards an upgraded fitness and training center for the students and community members of RSU57. We already knew that Hannaford was a great community partner, but this program was the icing on the cake!”

“Dear Hannaford Community Relations Department- Let me start by saying YOU ROCK!, but it doesn’t stop there…A Super Sized THANK YOU goes out to all those team members on the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program! and A special shout out goes to our local Hannaford Store & Staff, in Brunswick Maine- especially to Pete! Our organization, Passion For Pets Rescue (PPR), was the September recipient of the program. It was a successful fundraiser for our small, but growing, non-profit organization. The funds raised will go directly to help cover the medical expenses for the pups we rescue from high kill shelters in Mississippi. The majority of the dogs we rescue have been starved, abused or neglected. We work closely with our Southern partners & veterinarians to assure these dogs get the needed medical care & attention. Once the pups are healthy, they are transported to Maine & start a new life in their FURever homes. PPR is made up of volunteers. No one draws a salary or paycheck. We depend completely on donations & adoption fees to keep our organization running. Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program exceeded our expectations. The Cause Marketing Toolkit was extremely helpful, since all of us have busy schedules. The Hannaford email updates were wonderful and great reminders to keep us on track with promoting & updating our Facebook page & website. We certainly appreciate all that Hannaford has done for us, our dogs and our local community. Thanks Again for your generosity & support!”

“We had an absolutely positive experience with the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program. Communication was wonderful and the marketing toolkit provided was extremely beneficial in helping the Nubble spread the word. Nubble Light is not funded by tax dollars. Our small Gift Shop, Parks and Recreation and dozens of dedicated volunteers have taken on the monumental task of keeping up with the island and its original 1879 structure. Being on an island the repairs and maintenance can be extremely difficult and more expensive. A huge thank you to Hannaford, we are humbled and pleased with the program throughout September. We thank you for your continued support of Nubble Light and Parks and Recreation.”

The Hannaford Helps initiative not only provided much-needed proceeds, it also offered a new way of building awareness about the Library, our services, and our shared belief in sustainability (libraries have been “recycling” materials for centuries after all!). And it was a fun campaign to promote! The idea of “creating a little good karma” – and the appeal of the blue karma bag – caught people’s attention… The Marketing Toolkit was excellent. The Bedford ski club appreciates the support of Hannaford. The club provided ski gear for 6 local teams so that all kids can enjoy skiing. Because of the expense of ski equipment many underprivileged students would not have the opportunity to learn this lifelong sport. The club also provides a Nordic ski area for training. Racers and citizens enjoy the facilities for free, many generous folks donate to help with operating expenses. We host many races and we support the teams anyway we can. We are in the process of expanding our snowmaking equipment so we can have snow during low snow years. We will need about 40,000 and we have about 25% saved.
Thanks!

“Thank you so much for having the New Franklin PTO as a recipient of your Hannaford Bags 4 My Cause program. The money raised will help us pay for the class field trips for k-5 grade students. As Portsmouth’s only Title 1 school, we have made a commitment to our families to pay for all the students’ field trips, never asking families to pay. Our mission is to support the education and wellbeing of children at New Franklin School and foster relationships among the school, parents/guardians, and teachers. The funds raised will help us do that. The toolkit made it very easy to share out the information on social channels, among our school families and the community. And the correspondence during the program was fantastic, encouraging more participation along the way. I would recommend to any organization to participate in the program. “Thank you so much! We are thrilled with the Hannaford Helps Good Karma Bag program. We are a brand new organization (a little over one year old), so fundraising and community awareness go hand-in-hand for us.  The reusable bag program was a great way to get the word out to the community about our organization, and a very easy way for our supporters to, well, show support. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of the program at the Keene, NH store. Although we raised a modest amount – $83 – that can go a long way for us. $83 could:
Pay for 8 pool passes to the city pool for unlimited swimming all summer long
Pay for one week of summer baseball camp
Pay for a week of kids summer theater camp
Pay for 20 day passes to the Cheshire Children’s Museum
Pay for two kids to play youth soccer or flag football this fall

These are all opportunities that the kids who live in Keene Housing might not otherwise be able to experience. Their parents simply don’t have the disposal income to pay for these activities. The mission of the Kids Collaborative is to remove the financial barrier for kids to participate in the kinds of activities the community that many kids take for granted as part of childhood. The Hannaford Helps Reusable Bags program will help us to do that. Thank you.”

“The Sharon Rotary Club would like to thank you personally and all the people who are part of the Hannaford Supermarket family for inviting our club into the community of Causes that were graciously awarded Grants under the Hannaford Helps Re-Usable Bag Program. It isn’t often that charitable non-profit organizations – i.e. 501 (c) 3’s are selected “out of the blue” to be offered financial help in their endeavors to make their communities better for its residents – so I applaud that mind set. While being part of your Hannaford Program provided us an opportunity to be awarded additional funds to help sustain us in “what we do” I would also like to mention that just being selected made us “feel good” in that I’m sure that would never have happened if you hadn’t seen, read or experienced some of the accomplishments we’ve made in our community.  And, your recognition of that fact is highly appreciated and we construe that to mean “we’re doing a good job!” So, thank you and Hannaford’s Supermarkets very much!”

“We do truly appreciate that Hannaford has allowed for us to be the recipients of this valuable money taken in by the sale of the bags.  The money we raise is used to do a few things.  We are able to provide funds to our teachers in order to get learning tools for their classroom.  The classroom is ever-changing, with all the technology out there and new, innovative ways to teach our children. I feel fortunate that our children continue to get updated items to ensure they have a great learning environment.  Our teachers reach out to us for funding and we are generally able to provide them with most things that they request.  We also are able to partially fund some field trips to defray the costs to our parents.  For children who may not be able to afford the field trips, our PTO is able to help with funding so that no child goes without. All in all, again, we are extremely appreciative of the opportunity we were given to receive these donated funds to help our teachers, children and parents. Thanks so much.”

“Thank you again for choosing Taunton Area School to Career to be the beneficiary of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag program for the month of January. I am pleased to share that we sold 293 bags and will use the funds to benefit our college and career readiness programs for local high school students in Greater Taunton. I found the Cause Marketing Toolkit to be extremely helpful and it made promoting the program to all parties very easy. Although, I worked hard to market the program, the true heroes were Jerry Plouffe, the mangers and staff members at the Taunton Hannaford store.  They were all great to work with and they tried very hard to get the word out about TASC and the Hannaford Helps program.  They generated a lot of Good Karma for us!  Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag program is a great way for non-profits to raise funds and to increase their visibility.  Thank you for all that you do to give back to the community!”

We plan to use the money to help vet more dogs…every cent helps! Thanks again, you guys rock!”

“We received our checks from Hannaford ($160 total) and CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH for your generosity. We appreciate you selecting our PTO as the beneficiary of 2 months’ worth of bag sales at your Waltham location. We realize that you have a number of charities to pick from, and just want you to know how much it means that you selected us. Many of our families have commented on how nice the bags are, and how they are being used all the time. They were inexpensive but durable and fun!  I’m thrilled with mine! It was an INCREDIBLY easy fundraiser to run.  The Marketing toolkit was helpful. In all honesty, I didn’t follow it step by step, but just having it on file took the stress out of the process. It was great that we were able to benefit from not only the sales to our parents, but the entire community for a month. It’s hard asking our families over and over to participate in fundraisers. This was such a nice change. We will put the money towards our field day at the end of the school year. With close to 400 students, it can get pretty costly, so this will be a huge help! Thanks again to Hannaford for your community support!  It means a lot!!!”

“A sincere THANK YOU to Hannaford Supermarkets for running the Hannaford Cause Bag Program!  It’s a wonderful initiative for several reasons:
1.  it raises funds for small local non-profits like Putnam Community Action Partnership
2.  it promotes environmental responsibility, which we all share
3.  it generates awareness and recognition of worthwhile causes
It isn’t always about the money – increasing awareness is critical to a small non-profit.  Potential supporters may learn about the cause, and most importantly, people in need will learn where to turn for help.  It’s a win-win-win, for the public, the non-profit and Hannaford!”

“Please thank all of the Hannaford team and especially the Plattsburgh Store Leadership for the opportunity to benefit from the Reusable Bag Program. We are doubly pleased that your program is aligned with our association’s social and community goals. As I had previously explained, your support of our educational efforts means a lot to us. We operate the War of 1812 Museum as part of our social outreach. We have never charged a fee to visit our museum; we rely on the generosity of our visitors who are able to donate, sales from our gift shop, and funds from what special events we participate in throughout the year. Our Board ascribes to the “Smithsonian concept”: you shouldn’t have to pay to see your own “stuff”. To that end, those families who wouldn’t otherwise have an opportunity to visit a museum because of economic conditions can enjoy the same educational experience as others. Thanks, again, for the opportunity allowing us to be a recipient in your September campaign!”

“Our agency is very appreciative that we were chosen by Hannaford for this program.  We have a very strong relationship with our local store manager and have formed a great partnership in meeting the needs of the community.  The marketing toolkit was very useful, especially the templates, and helped us get the word out about the program in an effective manner with minimal effort and employee time.  The regular email and phone communication were great reminders as well to help us continue to promote the program and its benefit for the agency.  The money raised will go towards supplementing our Home-delivered meals program for older adults in our county. Thanks again to Hannaford for assisting our agency in fulfilling our mission to help older adults maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life.”

“Spring Farm CARES would like to thank Hannaford’s for having the Bags 4 My Cause program.  It is a wonderful gift to the community while also doing something for the environment with the reusable bags.  Both are causes near and dear to our organization.  Spring Farm CARES is an animal and nature sanctuary.  Every penny of donations to our organization goes directly to the animals in need.  Whether it be for the care of the 275 animal residents or through helping other animals in our community through our spay/neuter assistance program or our humane education program.  Every penny goes directly to the animals.  The Hannaford Helps Bags 4 My Cause was a perfect fit for us.  It takes a community to make a difference and Hannaford has helped to make a difference for many animals and their people in our community.”

“Thank you so very much for including us as part of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program!  We had a wonderful experience and the money raised will help support our students, most of whom have autism spectrum disorders.
As a non-profit, we struggle to meet so many needs. While our whole community of staff, parents and supporters constantly come together to make incredible gains, still, money is always tight. This fundraiser was a wonderful benefit to our school, and we are ever grateful to the store who thought of us to help. And the bags were awesome!
We raised just $102 from the bags, but $102 for our school means being able to buy special activity supplies, or pay for a dedicated staff member to go to a great training. In other words, we appreciate your outreach so very much. We serve students from all over the area, from 10 counties and 30 school districts, so not many of our staff or parents would not be able to shop at that particular store, so we had a TA and our Executive Director, who went to that store and bought a bunch of bags, and then had them at our front desk for our people to buy at the same price. That worked out really well, and not only did staff and parents buy them, but also one school-aged student wanted one so bad that his teacher used one as a reinforcer for his good behavior! Thank you so much to the Hannaford Community Relations Department.  I want to say that I had made a call to Joanne Muckenhoupt to solve some logistics, and she was so very helpful and warm and supportive. She told me that they really want to help nonprofits, and I felt so recognized by her, because we are working so very hard to help others and for lower material provisions than our for-profit counterparts. We do it for the kids and for the intrinsics of course, but having our needs recognized by a big store like Hannaford really felt sincere and nice. The Marketing Toolkit was great and we used it on our Facebook page, and in letters home to our students’ families, which helped us to sell the bags we had bought. Finally, I want to let you know that you all are appreciated, for wanting to help as much as for helping. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Please let all your stores know that Crossroads would be so very thrilled to be chosen again next year!”
Vicki Ramotar – MSED Special Education Teacher | Crossroads Center for Children | Schenectady

“Thank you so much for honoring The Kids’ Club as the recipient of your April Hannaford Helps Bag donation program! All of the funds received will go towards the Cindy Abelseth Scholarship Fund which provides tuition assistance for families in need of child care but unfortunately cannot afford it. One of the biggest positives to this program, is that the reusable bag is something that people already purchase at the grocery store anyways so it’s not a hard sell to promote the program. We also love that the organizations sponsored are local to each Hannaford. We have found through other fundraisers that they are much more effective when people are familiar with where their money is going. Overall this was a wonderful experience and we are deeply grateful!  We look forward to participating again!”

“The Brandon/ForestDale Lions Club would like to take this opportunity to thank you for selecting our club as beneficiary of your Reusable Bag program. Your attention to detail was remarkable. You made it so easy for us to promote this program by providing us with many promotional ideas and support. We used some of the materials you provided as well as some of your marketing suggestions. We will use the money raised by Hannaford’s to support our work of providing help to those in need in our community. The monies raised could help toward our charge of helping to improve/save the sight of every Vermonter. Our efforts in this field of endeavor were instigated by Helen Keller when she charged the Lions Clubs with being her “Knights of the Blind” in her efforts to help all those who are sight impaired. The Vermont Lions Clubs have purchased 3 Vision Screening machines that we use to test the sight of school children in the state. We have tested over 10,000 students and referred many for further testing. Our hopes are to test all Vermont school children and to purchase more Vision Screeners. Being a totally volunteer group that turns over 100% of what we raise to the community we truly appreciate your support. When large organizations like yourself step forward to lend a helping hand we all benefit. Thank you again for selecting us and we hope to partner with you again in the future.”

“Thank you so much for choosing the Milton Family Community Center (MFCC) as the beneficiary for the April Hannaford Helps program. Hannaford has always been a strong supporter of the work we do here at MFCC for our families and the communities they live in.  The money raised will be used as part of our Family Support program.  MFCC helps over 500 families per year with emergency assistance to assure that they are able to provide a safe and stable home environment for young children.  Thank you for helping us help some of our most vulnerable families in our community. We greatly appreciated the marketing toolkit.  The toolkit helped us deliver consistent and effective messaging to our social media followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We noticed that when we used the photos and scripts in the toolkit for our posts, that the number of engagement (likes) more than doubled.  The regular phone and email communication was super helpful.  We all live in a very busy world, so the helpful reminders were very supportive for us in keeping the positive energy going and new posts out on social media to encourage our followers to purchase the blue reusable bags. All around, it was a great experience for us at MFCC.  Thank you again to all of you at Hannaford for supporting our cause!”
